Independent Commercial Desk

Turning technical capability into contracted commercial relationships.

Nebula Alpha works with technology companies and compute infrastructure owners, and with the funds assessing them.

Great technology does not scale on engineering alone.

We work alongside founders, operators and investors on the buyers, pricing and contract terms that turn a working product or live capacity into commercial commitments.

The commercial bridge from infrastructure to the intelligent stack

Who We Work With

Three types of client, one commercial specialism.

Each has something real to take to market or a specific decision to make.

Founders with a working product

Your product works and has been proven in demonstrations or pilots, but you do not yet have your first enterprise contracts.

We work with you and your team on which buyers to approach, the business case, pricing and the contract terms that enterprise procurement and legal will expect.

Data centre and GPU operators

You have live or near term capacity and need customers and commercial commitments behind it.

We work with you on identifying suitable customers and developing terms for capacity, power and data centre arrangements that fit the asset.

Funds assessing an opportunity

You are assessing a company, project or infrastructure opportunity and want an independent view of its commercial readiness before you commit capital.

We look at the buyer, the proposition, pricing, delivery model and commercial risks, and discuss the findings with your investment team.

What We Do

Two areas of work.

In both, there is a capable product or asset that needs the right customers and terms. The buyers, contracts and risks are different, so the work is too.

Enterprise Software and Emerging Technology

Who it is for

Founders and leadership teams of AI, distributed ledger technology (DLT) and other emerging technology companies that have a working product.

The usual situation

The technology works, but enterprise buyers are not yet signing. Conversations stall with procurement, legal or budget holders, or pilots do not turn into contracts.

What we work on together

  • Deciding which buyers and use cases to pursue first, and the business case for each.
  • Developing conversations with relevant decision makers and partners alongside your team.
  • Structuring paid pilots with a clear route to a longer term contract.
  • Preparing pricing, contract terms and service levels that corporate procurement and legal can work with.
  • Checking that computing costs and customer pricing leave a sustainable margin.

Compute Capacity, Data Centres and Power

Who it is for

Data centre developers, GPU operators and power site owners with live or near term capacity, and the funds assessing these projects.

The usual situation

Capacity is built, under construction or secured on power, but not yet fully contracted. Returns depend on credible customers committing for the right term.

What we work on together

  • Identifying suitable customers for available or planned capacity.
  • Developing commercial terms for GPU leasing, colocation and offtake arrangements.
  • Matching power and data centre space with credible computing projects.
  • Reviewing customer commitments, term and counterparty risk against the cost of the asset.
  • Connecting projects with relevant capital providers and partners where it helps.

Engagement

Clear mandates. Defined commercial outcomes.

We do not sell hours or open ended consulting. Before we start, we agree the commercial situation, the outcome we are working towards and the scope of the work. We then work alongside your team, not separately from it.

Commercial Origination

Developing relevant commercial conversations, partnerships and customer opportunities alongside your team.

Suited to

Founders with a working product and operators with capacity to contract.

Typical outputs

  • An agreed list of target buyers and partners
  • Introductions and meetings with decision makers
  • Proposals and pilot terms prepared with your team
  • Regular review of opportunities and next steps

Commercial Sanity Check

Assessing the buyer, proposition, pricing, delivery model and commercial risks before a company enters a market or an investor commits capital.

Suited to

Founders, boards and funds facing a specific decision.

Typical outputs

  • A written assessment of commercial readiness
  • The main risks and gaps, set out plainly
  • Practical recommendations and open questions
  • A discussion of the findings with your team

Capacity and Offtake Structuring

Helping identify suitable customers and develop commercial terms for compute capacity, power and data centre arrangements.

Suited to

Data centre, GPU and power site owners with live or near term capacity.

Typical outputs

  • A profile of suitable customers for the capacity
  • A shortlist of customers and first approaches
  • Draft terms covering pricing, term, volume and service levels
  • Support in negotiations alongside your team and advisers

We help companies with new, unproven technology win their first enterprise commercial contracts, working as part of their team.

I was born in Central London and grew up around international business and technology, soldering circuits and writing code in the 1980s. That hands on grounding has run through everything since, from bulletin boards and CD ROMs to distributed ledger technology and AI infrastructure. I have lived in Switzerland for over 12 years.

In maritime shipping I handled vessel charters on one to five year terms, where an idle $50m asset is a financial disaster. AI infrastructure follows the same logic: high capital costs, asset lifecycles, and returns that depend on keeping capacity contracted and working.

At Nebula Alpha we work alongside founders, engineers and commercial teams: shaping the proposition, developing the right conversations and putting the terms into a form that buyers, procurement and legal can agree. The customer relationships stay with your business.

Novel AI

Worked with the company to take a novel AI product to SGS, leading to its first enterprise contract, commercial reference and 30% increase in valuation.

First enterprise contract

AirAsia

Distributed ledger technology

Worked with the company to take distributed ledger technology to AirAsia, leading to the first-of-its-kind customs clearance solution for e-commerce.

DNA microbiology

Worked with the company to take DNA microbiology to a major US food corporation, leading to its first enterprise contract and commercial reference.

Building the deal from the inside

In each of these deals the technology was new to the buyer, so there was no standard sales process to follow. The work was done with each company's engineers and leadership: setting up the live demos, defining the pricing, negotiating the contracts, establishing the service desk and writing the SLAs.
